Originally known as LTA Process Engineering, the company was formed by the rationalization of LTA Birtley, Jacobs LTA Engineering and Spencer Melksham over the period of 1976 to 1982.  The acquisition of LTA by Grinaker in 2001 led to the formation of Grinaker-LTA Process Engineering and in 2005 the name was changed to E+PC Engineering & Projects Company Ltd.

The development of the ability to build, own and operate metallurgical process plants led to the formation of what was then LTA Metallurgical Operations in 1991.
