At the general meeting held on 11 October 2007, the requisite majority of shareholders approved the special and ordinary resolutions that were proposed at the meeting relating to:
*the specific approval for Aveng to repurchase shares from Rand Merchant Bank ("RMB"); and
*the authority to implement the special resolution.
The special resolution has been lodged for registration with the Registrar of Companies on Thursday 11 October 2007. Once this special resolution has been registered by the Registrar, all conditions precedent relating to the opening of the RMB offer and the specific repurchase by Aveng from RMB will have been met.

A further announcement confirming that the special resolution has been registered by the Registrar will be made once this has been done.
