Project Description

Continued strong growth in the demand for cement in South Africa resulted in the Holcim Limited Board giving its final approval for the execution of the Roodepoort Cement Mill 8 Project on 3 November 2006.

The project entails the provision of:

A new 120t/hr Blending Plant
A new 120t/hr Vertical Roller Mill
A new 10 000t Clinker Silo
A new 15 000t Cement Silo
Supporting Services and Infrastructure

The project will translate into an annual cement milling capacity increase of some 500’’92000t over existing levels to 900’’92000t per annum (after closure of existing energy inefficient mills at the Roodepoort plant).

Scope of our Involvement

Aveng E+PC was appointed to execute the Roodepoort Cement Mill 8 Project on an EPCM basis with Holcim having placed a separate contract on Loesche for the supply of the Vertical Roller Mill.
