Due Diligence for a Fuel Storage Facility

Project description

AVENG E+PC was engaged to develop a Concept Design Proposal and order of magnitude estimate for a new white products storage and distribution facility in Matola, Mozambique for Independent Petroleum Group (IPG).

The facility will cater for three different products (gasoline, gas oil and jet fuel) received by ship while distribution will take place via road and rail.

Implementation of the project will involve a multi phase approach, starting with 70 000 m3 and providing a total of 500 000 m3 of storage capacity in the final phase.

Safety on such a facility is a major focus, and therefore fire fighting capability is included as a key success factor.

Scope of our involvement

Aveng E+PC was responsible for reviewing the concept design and producing an order of magnitude estimate for the project.

Special Features

The available plot for the facility is situated on two sides of a municipal road leading to the Matola Harbour, housing terminals for coal loading, petroleum products and grain distribution. Logistical arrangements during construction will need to cater for impact on this busy road.
