Project description

Gold Fields Ghana Limited approached Aveng E+PC to assist in expanding the current Tarkwa Gold Mine based in Tarkwa, Ghana. The goal was to increase the production of the existing CIL Plant from a feed rate of 450 000tpm to 500 000tpm by using various process solutions developed by Aveng E+PC. A further expansion of the plant was called for to achieve an additional 500 00tpm. This will enable the Tarkwa CIL Plant to more than double the final throughput, producing 1000 000tpm.

The increase in production and the expansion of the plant will be managed in an Alliancing partnership between Gold Fields Ghana Limited and Aveng E+PC Engineering & Projects Company Limited.

Scope of our involvement

The scope of work for the implementation of the proposed new CIL plant with an operational capacity in excess of 1 million tpm will comprise the installation of new Ball Mill and following principal elements:

An auxiliary plant feed stockpile

Installation of new; upgrading of existing ore feed conveyors
A second mill cyclone cluster
Ball mill support systems
Trash screen system modifications
Elution plant
Modified Pebble (SCATS) handling system
Additional Plant air and aeration air compressors
Upgrading of the external Reagents Plant
CIL Leach Plant
